A-Z - How an Event Photography Session Works

Upon booking your event photography coverage, we will work together in order to draft a provisional brief. This is where we discuss any specific details or requirements you may have, and come up with a plan of action for the session. Once this original brief has been agreed upon, we then have a solid base to build on; from here we can make any necessary tweaks, before the date of the event itself. This ensures the session runs as smoothly as possible and that we can capture all of those special moments, from your event.

These sessions are entirely bespoke and can cater towards all kinds of events. Whether it be a sporting event, a family/social gathering, a wedding or anything in between. If in doubt, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and I can provide some clarification.

Rather uniquely, event photography can often have multiple beneficiaries from having a photographer present. Whether you’re a venue, host, guest or participant, there’s always going to be benefits to having photographic coverage at your next event.

As the large majority of events involve people, I work in a very similar way to how I would during a portraiture shoot. This is especially true when working in close proximity to others and is very event specific. I’m a strong believer in portrait photography being laid-back, relaxed and above all natural. I’m not the type of photographer to be bossing people about and saying ‘do this, do that etc etc.’. The goal is to achieve natural looking images, both in terms of someones facial expressions and the final image itself.

The bespoke nature of event photography means there’s no set duration. A session lasts as long as the event or however long you require photographic coverage. During this time I can capture hundreds of images, making sure to fulfil our previously agreed on session brief. Once our session has concluded I’ll go away and edit the photos. This process involves carefully editing each individual image, and hand selecting the best photographs to display in your very own online gallery. This gallery can be set up as either ‘Public’ or ‘Private’. A private gallery will be password protected, ensuring you have complete confidentiality and control over who has access to your images. On the other hand, a public gallery will be accessible to anyone on my website.
